Present time conjugation of verbs ending in -ire with 'isc'
Now we're going to look at the verbs ending in -ire that have a special thing going on. In this example: capire.

Lei capisce | you understand (formal) |
lei capisce | she understands |
lui capisce | he understands |
noi capiamo | we understand |
voi capite | you all understand |
loro capiscono | they understand |
Strictly speaking, these verbs are not really 'regular'. But all the verbs that have this specific thing going on, all follow the same rules (and are regular in that respect).
There are a few of these verbs that you might want to remember:
- Capire (to understand)
- Finire (to finish)
- Preferire (to prefer)
- Pulire (to clean)
- Costruire (to build)
Mostly you'll just get to know these verbs by coming across them in random texts.
